This garden in North Dublin was a blank canvas as the house had been newly built.
The inspiration here was to create a journey through tall bamboos and airy, exotic planting to an L-shaped bespoke hardwood timber bench at the end of the garden that enjoys the evening sun. A staggered path in blue limestone and silver granite was laid to visually act like little bridges linking two small paved areas of the garden, while a simple water feature comprised of a brass spout inset to a feature wall provides an element of surprise along the way. Boundary walls were painted in off black (Farrow & Ball ‘Railings’) further enhancing a sense of urban retreat.
