The initial brief for this unusually shaped and gently sloping large suburban family garden was the need for a contemporary home office to be integrated into a wildlife friendly garden.
We sourced the studio office (by Shomera) for the client which was installed on an elevated terrace planted with wild grasses to soften the aspect and to give views over the whole garden. Working closely with the client, we created a free flowing design achieved by the use of curved pathways in a washed blue limestone chosen precisely for its relaxed look. This was further enhanced by the planting of several native and ornamental trees chosen to support and encourage wildlife. These included some fruit trees to create a mini orchard and a woodland area planted with native Irish trees and plants. A water feature made from an antique limestone water trough and gifted to the client by her parents acts as a focal point when stepping out from the kitchen. A main outdoor dining area with a long bespoke oak table under a pergola with rambling white roses adds a further relaxed and romantic charm to this delightful family garden.
