Ideas for Back Gardens:

At KHS Landscaping, we offer our clients great ideas for back gardens that include in-built seating areas under modern, bespoke pergolas, fire pits, water features, outdoor lighting and the use of planted pleached hornbeams for garden boundary privacy. Garden sculptures are also a great idea for back gardens as they enhance the space and add interest.

Back gardens can be enjoyed all year round if they are well designed and have good solid planting. Some great ideas for a formal garden with a garden studio and a strong sense of privacy can be found in one of our recently completed garden project in South Dublin:

At the heart of this garden and integral to the design process was the existing mature apple tree which was retained, giving the garden a unique natural sculpture-like feature. A bespoke studio (by Shomera) was installed at the bottom of the garden behind the tree and acts as a stunning architectural backdrop to the garden. A low drystone granite feature wall was designed to frame the apple tree providing practical outdoor seating.  An outdoor fireplace adjacent to the studio extends the usability of this space as the family can gather here to relax on a warm summer’s evening. A sculpture of a hare (by Irish sculptor Gwen Wilkinson at The Kildare Gallery) adds further interest to the understated simplicity of this garden. Domes of clipped topiary form a billowy understory beneath the apple tree. The garden is flanked on both sides by mature rows of pleached hornbeams providing an instant sense of privacy. This beautiful contemporary garden offers a beguiling simplicity in its modern formal design.
