Castleknock

Project Description

This was a small suburban garden on a newly built housing estate in Castleknock, Dublin 15.  We first met the client at Bloom 2017 who was looking for a contemporary courtyard type garden that required minimal upkeep. There was an added challenge to the brief, as a modern heating vent that was installed by the builder had to be incorporated into the design. A wooden screening fence was used here to hide the vent, while the fencing and the small shed at the back of the garden were painted in a white grey, creating a fresh and modern feel to the garden. This was complemented by the green lush planting and included a couple of small fern trees and some low green shrubs. Bands of limestone cobble and silver granite were used for the paving, adding interest and sophistication to the garden. A large granite ball was used as a water feature and a natural carved out granite stone was installed at ground level as a birdbath, adding an exotic and unique element to the garden.
